The person behind Isabelle La Vie

Besides being a psychologist, I am the partner of my childhood sweetheart, whom I have been married to since 2000. Together we have four children, a granddaughter, and a lively home filled with family, love, animals, and the occasional bonus child who finds their way to our table. I also breed Ragdoll cats on a small scale, a passion in which care, attention, connection, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything I do.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling, music, dancing, nature, and spending meaningful moments with the people I love. It is often in these simple moments that I am reminded of the importance of connection, balance, and living with intention.

From a young age, I learned to be strong and to carry responsibility. For many years, my life revolved around caring for others, organising, building, and making sure everything kept running smoothly. I did so with love, but also with the belief that pushing through was simply what was expected of me.

Until my body brought me to a complete standstill.

Almost overnight, my body became severely dysregulated, and I entered a difficult period in which I could no longer avoid looking at myself and the life I had created. The burnout that followed brought an important realisation: I had become so focused on caring for others that somewhere along the way, I had lost sight of myself.

What followed was not only a journey of recovery, but also a profound process of self-discovery and personal growth. I learned to understand myself on a deeper level, recognise recurring patterns, and reconnect with who I truly am.

I have learned that life is not about constantly being strong, carrying everything on your shoulders, or endlessly pushing forward. Sometimes true strength lies in slowing down, listening to yourself, and acknowledging what you need.

I believe that life is about finding a healthy balance. About being there for the people you love, carrying responsibility, and building meaningful relationships, without losing yourself in the process.

Because no matter how well we care for others, when we continually ignore our own feelings, boundaries, and needs, we eventually lose connection with ourselves.

For me, personal growth is therefore not about becoming someone else, but about rediscovering who you truly are. The relationship you have with yourself forms the foundation for everything else in your life.

Alongside psychology, I have long been interested in consciousness, intuition, and the connection between mind, body, and emotional wellbeing.

Spirituality and faith also play an important role in my life and in the way I understand personal growth and healing.

I believe that lasting growth occurs when the mind, heart, and inner self are once again connected and working in harmony.

For some people, faith or spirituality is an important part of that journey; for others, it is not. Both are equally welcome.

In my work, I meet you where you are, honouring who you are, what you need, and what is meaningful to you.
